Planetary Geology

This course will provide the students with the basic knowledge of planetary geology with particular focus on Mars. The course is divided in 10 hours of theoretical lectures and 6 hours of laboratory activity:

-        During the frontal lecture the students will acquire knowledge on the geology and geomorphology of Mars and they will enter the fascinating world of planetary exploration, discussing of past, ongoing and future missions. During this first part of the programme important concepts of astrobiology will be presented.

-        During the laboratory (only for physical attendees) activities the students will learn how to produce a geological map of Mars starting from high resolution satellite images (HiRISE).
