Enrolment options
The FAST4Future summer school on Astronomy focuses on general concepts in astronomy, astronomical data handling and preparation of astronomical observation proposals. The main goal of the school is to introduce the participants to the basic rudiments of astronomical research and prepare them for a possible career in astronomy. The school will be covering four main topics, namely:
- Introduction to general astronomy
- African indigenous astronomy
- Cosmology
- Observational astronomy.
Learning Objectives
The objectives of the school on astronomy are to:
- identify the origin and components of the universe
- describe stellar parameters
- discuss African indigenous astronomy and the role of Africans in the development of
astronomy - demonstrate observational methods/techniques in astronomy
- prepare basic astronomical observational proposals
- discuss data handling techniques in astronomy
